River Clean-Up
Manistee River Clean-Up
September 22nd
Manistee Brown Trout with Jerry Regan
September 22nd, 2012 is the date for you to be a part of the first ever, multi-organizational Manistee River Clean-Up.
For years, anglers have organized under Anglers of the Au Sable to scour a year’s worth of trash from the bottom of the Au Sable River. Now it’s time to do the same for her sister river—the Manistee.
The Old Au Sable Fly Shop, Anglers of the Au Sable, Mason-Griffith TU, Headwaters TU, UMRA (Upper Manistee River Association),and the Boardman River Clean Sweep group have united to organize the largest ever Manistee River Clean-up.
All we need is you.
We not only need folks to wade short stretches of river to scour trash from the bushes, banks, and bottom, but we also need car spotters, and volunteers to clean public access points. There’s plenty to do. So sign up yourself and feel free to volunteer your friends and family members
And talk to your conservation group to see if they want to be represented. This project is for the river and all groups are welcome.
The gathering begins at 8:30 a.m. at the Old Au Sable. There we’ll organize and start for the river about 9:30a.m. Garbage pickers and riff-raff will return to the shop for a festive BBQ, prizes, and friendly competitions.
Food, prizes, and good deeds.
Again, all we need is you.
