Spring?
March 3, 2010
February, for being the shortest month, can drag like no other. But then we break through to March and it seems that we’ve broken winter’s back and fishing can’t be far away. Often March is merely the idea that Spring is near, but we know that while there’ll be some good streamer and nymph fishing on a few warm days, we also know that winter spit and struggle to hold. I don’t know if that’s true this year. It’s been absolutely beautiful up here and fishing has been pretty darn solid.
Pat Moore guided his client to this beauty on an AuSable River streamer trip recently.
Phil and Mike were also at it again. Nymphing some of their usual AuSable River fishing spots. Phil managed this rainbow, and though it was one of only a few trout, it’s a good one. That’s sort of how I expect the fishing to be this time of year on the AuSable; not a ton of fish but often a pretty nice trout. By the way Phil, I hear you've got a baby on the way--congratulations!
There’s really not a lot to say after a look at a forecast like this one other than that there’ll be fishing on the AuSable and I’ll be part of it—you should too. This would be a fantastic opportunity to scratch that spring-fever itch.
The upstairs is open for the weekend and for $99 for up to six folks (that’s only $18 a piece)—you just can’t beat the price. I’d get some people together and start your first annual Spring Fever Trout Trek. The snow is minimal so you can drive just about everywhere with 4 wheel. I’ve got the big screen stocked with trout fishing videos and Spikes is across the street. It’s a good idea.
I’m truly excited for fishing this weekend. Just what the doctor ordered.
Take care,
Andy
