Old AuSable Fly ShopGrayling, Michigan – The 2008 fishing season is on and the Michigan’s hatches are under way. In Grayling, the home base to the famed AuSable River system, there's a new face on a historic site. The Old AuSable Fly Shop located at the AuSable River on the I-75 business loop has brought a new level of customer service to the fly fishing community. The new fly shop is stocked with everything you will need for your angling adventures. “We have a great fly selection representing all phases of the hatches you will see on our river system and lots of new products and gadgets every angler needs for a successful day on the river” says Andy Partlo, General Manager. “We are a little different than other fly shops in the area. We have all the staples but there are some brands that may be new to Michigan anglers”. In January the big brown historic log building located on the banks of the AuSable River changed hands and the new owners have brought fresh new ideas, products, and services to their business, while maintaining the rich heritage as a fly fishing outfitter and a gathering place for some of history's most interesting and well known outdoorsman. It was near here that Indian Chief David Shoppenagon, one of the earliest fishing and hunting guides in Northern Michigan, had a cabin. Following him were other famous outdoorsman and conservationists including Rube Babbit and Fred Bear. Over the years this location has been a second home to men and woman who share the same passions. “Drop by and visit us. We’re anxious to catch up with all of the fly fishing enthusiasts that frequent our area as well as helping those who may just be getting started in the sport”. |
