AuSable River Canoe Marathon Info
The 61st annual Weyerhaeuser AuSable River Canoe Marathon culminates the Grayling River Festival and starts at our site again this Saturday night at 9PM. It’s a site to see these world class athletes compete in the longest and richest canoe race in North America. Please go to http://www.ausablecanoemarathon.org for more info on the race. We are very proud to sponsor canoe number 14 of Matt Rimer & Bill Torongo. Both are past champions of this race and are one of this year’s race favorite.
We’re having a party Saturday night from 6PM to 10PM for 200 of our friends and customers, if you would like to attend; you’ll need a ticket (they’re free!) so call the shop at 989-348-3330 to reserve yours now, they’re going fast.
We will have a secured area with a large tent with tables and chairs, and food will be served, BYOB. Come and park on site, party with us and have the best seat in town to watch the start of the race, It’s really spectacular. It will be co-hosted by us and our friends at Spike’s www.spikes-grayling.com
We are going to have some nice items to give away and auction including a new kayak! We will be asking for donations and 100% of the net proceeds of the entire event will be donated to the River House. We encourage you to dig deep for this cause. Here’s some info on the River House.
River House, Inc. - formerly known as River House Shelter & Domestic Crisis Services - is a local nonprofit agency that serves victims and survivors of homelessness, domestic abuse and sexual violence in four northern Michigan counties: Crawford County, Ogemaw County, Oscoda County and Roscommon County. The main facility is located in Grayling, Michigan and there is an outreach office in West Branch, Michigan.
The Mission of River House, Inc. is to provide safety and empowerment to survivors of domestic & sexual violence and the homeless. River House, Inc. has been serving local communities since 1986, by providing crisis counseling, emergency shelter, group counseling and support, as well as legal advocacy and community education.
