This Week in Fly Fishing : September 17th

The fall is upon us here in Northern Michigan, but the fishing isn't near over. You'll hear plenty more about how to spend your fly time on the Au Sable and Manistee in the river report later this week, but for now I'm going to hold it down with a few links to some interesting pieces and news that we've seen around the internet this week.

Big Gulp: How Often Do Trout and Grayling Eat Mammals?

Small spoiler: it's more than you think. Learn all about some recent scientific investigations that shed some light on the feeding habits of these fish. And maybe think twice before leaving small pets by the river. Just in case "The Big One" is looking for a little treat.

Read it here.

Why You Should Mouse in September

Ever wanted to try mousing? September is a great month for it. This recent article from our buds at MidCurrent will fill you in on the details of this fun way to fly fish.

Read it here.

Let us know if you try it out!

Run for the Rouge & Clean Up Event

If you can't make it up for our Manistee clean up (see the next paragraph for details!), you can join the Friends of the Rouge and several other groups for some river clean up fun next weekend (September 27th). Register for the race, and register to help with clean up efforts along this great downstate river.

Register for the run here and the clean up here.
